CREW-Miami’s Signature Fall Event Scores an Impressive Success
True to its name, CREW-Miami’s annual “Cocktails, Community and Connections” showcased the enthusiasm and generosity that characterize South Florida’s commercial real estate professionals. Co-chairs Joy McKenna and Diana Carballeira and their tireless committee members created a memorable evening of networking on October 27, 2016, at the National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College in Downtown Miami.
Two hundred CREW members and guests dodged raindrops to mingle with real estate superstars and also to raise money for women and girls, especially those headed for careers in the field of commercial real estate. Donations to the silent auction–ranging from original artworks to fashion accessories, language classes, and gift certificates for restaurants, spas and salons–netted more than $7,000. “The proceeds even exceeded those of last years, and will benefit The Women’s Fund of Miami Dade County and CREW-Miami’s scholarship program,” Joy remarked.
In attendance were Debbie Korge, Claudia Bell, Fran Katz and Lydia Nimako representing the charity. CREW members Joann Soman and Joy McKenna serve on the board of directors of The Women’s Fund.
Diana expressed gratitude to all the evening’s sponsors, including Bacardi USA for providing beverages. “The amazing Miami Dade College staff helped make the event go smoothly, and guests enjoyed the artwork of Fer Sucre Pop Gallery that decorated the space. Handcrafted Venezuelan chocolates from Cao Chocolates were a special treat, and guests created fun memories at the Peekaboo photo booth!”
